The City of Marquette is working with the consulting firm of Beckett and Raeder to update their Community Master Plan.
The Community Master Plan provides a long-term vision for the community and helps to guide future policies by examining data and community input.

On Thursday, November 10 from 6:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. the City of Marquette Office of Arts and Culture will host the opening reception for the November Deo Gallery Exhibit: Grids & Pixelation: Visual Poetry. Grids & Pixelation: Visual Poetry features weavings by Carol Irving and the acrylic paintings of Michael Friend. These Upper Peninsula based artists have both been featured in the Grand Rapids Art Prize competition and have displayed their work regionally as part of public and private collections.
The Deo Gallery is owned by the City of Marquette and is located in the basement of the PWPL in the City’s Arts & Culture Center; it is curated monthly by the Lake Superior Art Association. The Deo Gallery’s exhibit will be open through the month of November. Receptions are free and open to the public. Light refreshments are provided. Artist talk will begin at 7:00 p.m.

Lakeshore Boulevard will be closed to through traffic for stormwater ditch maintenance between Fair Avenue and Pine Street on Tuesday, October 25, beginning at 7 a.m. This project is expected to be completed by the end of the day.

The October 20, 2022 regular meeting of the City of Marquette Brownfield Redevelopment Authority Board has been canceled due to lack of s quorum. The rescheduled meeting date for the Brownfield Redevelopment Authority is to be announced. Meetings are held at the Municipal Service Center, 1100 Wright Street, Marquette, MI. 49855.
The City of Marquette’s solid waste drop-off site is nearing the end of the season. Please note that for the safety of those using the site, it will now close at dusk.
The last day to use the rubbish drop-off site will be Wednesday, October 26.
The compost and brush drop-off site will continue to be open on Tuesdays from
3 p.m. to dusk and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The tentative closing date for the season is Tuesday, November 8.
The site will reopen in the spring and a new schedule will be posted later this winter.
The Marquette Downtown Development Authority Board will be participating in a tour of infrastructure in need of repairs in Downtown Marquette. No official business of the DDA will be conducted. The tour will begin on Monday, October 24, 2022, at 8:00 a.m. departing from Marquette Commons, 112 S. Third St.
The regular meeting of the Marquette Downtown Development Authority Board of Directors scheduled for Thursday, November 10, 2022 has been rescheduled for Thursday, November 17, 2022. The meeting will begin at 8:00 a.m. at the Marquette Commons, 112 South Third Street
Public Participation
There will be two options for public participation in this meeting: in person or written. Written comments can be submitted by emailing jodi@downtownmarquette.org. Written submissions will be accepted until 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 16, 2022.
The Lake Superior Performance Rally car race is taking place on Saturday, October 15, 2022. This community event will require the closure of Mount Marquette Rd from Cliffs Power Rd to M553 from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Volunteers will ensure that all trail crossings are closed, but cyclists, hikers, and pedestrians are asked to avoid utilizing the recreational area surrounding Cliffs Power Rd between the hours of 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Saturday, October 15, 2022.
