Halloween Trick or Treat Schedule for the City of Marquette

Halloween Trick-or-Treating in the City of Marquette is scheduled for Thursday, October 31, 2024. The recommended hours to be observed for Trick-or-Treating are from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Motorists, please anticipate heavy pedestrian traffic during this time; be extra cautious when entering and exiting driveways. We recommend turning on headlights earlier in the day and driving slowly through neighborhoods.

For the children's safety, parents are encouraged to accompany them while trick-or treating and share the following tips:

• Never approach someone in a car who is offering candy

• Trick-or-treat only at houses with porch lights on and never enter a stranger’s home

• Inspect all treats before allowing children to eat them

• Consider placing reflective tape on costumes to be more visible to others

• Walk, don’t run from house-to-house

• Be sure children can see through mask eye-openings, and check for trip hazards

• Always stay on sidewalks and look both ways before crossing streets

Temporary Yard Signs

Residents and Political Parties are reminded that Yard Signs in the City of Marquette are subject to Article 11 of the City of Marquette Land Development Code.

Yard Signs are permitted on private property only and may not be placed in a street right of way (generally defined as between the curb and a sidewalk or 10 feet from the curb).

The Community Development Department has received several complaints regarding these signs being placed within City Street right of ways. These signs have been removed by the City Code Enforcement Official and are kept at Municipal Service Center (1100 Wright Street).

Those wishing to recover signs may contact the Community Development Department.

Fall Leaf Collection Placement

As fall brush and leaf cleanup preparations begin, please remember not to place leaves in the road or along the curb line. This causes leaves to collect in the storm drains and creates flooding in the streets. This sediment is also entering the storm drain system with the potential of plugging the storm water main.

Leaves must be placed behind the curb line, not in the street. Residents not complying will be in violation of Section 38-22(c) of the Marquette City Code. We are also reminding motorists to avoid parking in positions that block access to leaf piles, or they will not be picked up.

The schedule is as follows:

Brush Collection: October 21 – 25

Leaf Collection: October 28 – November 8
