Summer Property Tax Bills

Summer tax bills totaling approximately $36.8 million dollars will be mailed to Marquette City property owners on June 30th.  The due date for payment of City summer taxes is September 14th, 2022.

Tax collection begins July 1st, 2022 and payments are accepted at the City Treasurer’s office without interest through September 14th, 2022.  Interest of 1% is added to the summer tax bill on September 15th and on the 15th of every following month.

The 2022 summer property tax bill represents millage levies for the City of Marquette, Library, Senior Millage, DDA, Marquette Public Schools, State Education, Marquette-Alger RESA, County Operating, and Iron Ore Heritage Authority.

City of Marquette Offices Closed in Observance of Independence Day

City offices located at Marquette City Hall, 300 W. Baraga Avenue; the Lakeview Arena, 401 E. Fair Avenue; the Arts and Culture Center, 217 N. Front St. (in the Peter White Public Library); and the Municipal Service Center, 1100 Wright Street, will be closed on Monday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day.  Marquette Police, Fire, and Public Works and Utilities will remain operational during this time.

There will be no change in garbage pickup for City residents.

Grove Street Closure to Through Traffic

On Monday June 20t, Oberstar Inc. will again be closing a section of Grove Street for water main work in Marquette Township. Grove Street will be closed to through traffic between Vandenboom Road and McClellan Avenue from 8:00am to 4:00pm. The work will occur just past the City limits between Grandview Circle and Specker Circle. Access will be maintained to all residences and businesses.

The public is advised to use caution when traveling through this area and to be alert for construction and advisory signing.

Gove Street Closure to Through Traffic

On Friday June 17, Oberstar Inc. will be closing a section of Grove Street for water main work in Marquette Township. Corpus Christi Procession

Beginning at 12:30pm on Sunday, June 19, the Catholic Diocese of Marquette will be hosting a procession. 

The procession will begin at noon at St. Peter Cathedral located at 311 W. Baraga Avenue and proceed north on Fourth Street to St. Michael Church located at 401 W. Kaye Avenue. 

The procession will utilize the roadway and have a police escort.  Motorists traveling on Fourth Street are asked to avoid the procession and use an alternative route.
