The City of Marquette Household Rubbish site, located at 1415 Pioneer Road, will be closed on Saturday, July 6, 2024. The site will reopen on Monday July 8 at 3:00 p.m.
City offices located at Marquette City Hall, 300 W. Baraga Avenue; the Lakeview Arena, 401 E. Fair Avenue; the Arts and Culture Center, 217 N. Front St. (in the Peter White Public Library); and the Municipal Service Center, 1100 Wright Street, will be closed July 4-5 in observance of Independence Day. Marquette Police, Fire, and Public Works and Utilities will remain operational during this time.
There will be no change in garbage pickup for City residents.
From 3 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 25 there will be a public engagement session at Lakeview Arena regarding the City Community Master Plan update. The City of Marquette announces the postponement of the installation of the 'Seven Grandfathers Teachings' sculpture by indigenous artist Jason Quigno. Due to logistical timing of transportation and Quigno's request for more time to work with the stones, the installation has been rescheduled for later this summer.
Despite the deferment of the sculpture, the Marquette community will still be introduced to the Seven Grandfathers Teachings through several engaging events on Friday, June 28th:
The 'Seven Grandfathers Teachings' sculpture will be the City’s first major Indigenous public art installation and will serve as the centerpiece of the new City Shoreline Cultural Trail. This Trail, honoring our community's diverse cultural heritage, will connect key sites along the City’s shoreline.

The City of Marquette will host a variety of informational and community engagement events during City of Marquette Art Week 2024, held June 24-29). West Washington Street will be closed to vehicular traffic between Front Street and Third Street from 2:30pm to 9:00pm every Wednesday between 6/20/2024 and 8/28/2024 for the Marquette DDA Wednesday Farmers Market. Street parking will be prohibited in the 100 block of West Washington after 2:30pm on the days of the closures.

North Third Street will be closed to vehicular traffic between Arch Street and Ohio Street and again between Park Street and College Avenue from 5:00pm to 8:00pm on Thursday June 20th, for the Marquette DDA’s Music on Third Event. Signed detour routes will be provided around the closures to aid the Marquette DDA’s Music on Third Event.
The regular meeting of the City of Marquette Brownfield Redevelopment Authority Board has been cancelled for June 19, due to a lack of agenda items. The meetings are held at 9:00 a.m. at the Municipal Service Center, 1100 Wright Street, Marquette, MI. 49855 on the third Wednesday of each month.
The Noquemanon Trail Network (NTN) will be hosting biking and running events Friday June 21st through Sunday June 23rd. The Mount Marquette roadway will be closed to vehicular traffic Friday evening through Sunday at 2:00pm for these events.
