The City of Marquette Office of Arts & Culture welcomes citizens to nominate deserving members of
the community to be considered for the 2022 Annual Art Awards. These awards are offered to recognize and thank citizens and organizations who have demonstrated artistic excellence and/or made significant contributions to the awareness of arts in our community.
Nominations for the 25th Annual Art Awards are being accepted for the following categories: Arts
Volunteer, Arts Advocate, Arts Educator, Youth Award, Visual Artist, Performing Artist, Writer,
Special Recognition, Arts Organization, and Arts Business.

long as the nominee has made contributions in the City of Marquette. To ensure a large pool of

Award recipients are honored annually at a special ceremony and reception. This year’s ceremony is
scheduled for the evening of Saturday, October 8 at the Masonic Center in Downtown Marquette.

A Special Meeting of the Marquette Board of Light and Power Board has been scheduled for Tuesday, July 12 at 10:00am.This meeting will be held at the main office of the Marquette Board of Light and Power, 2200 Wright Street, Marquette MI 49855.
Seventh Street will be closed to through traffic between Magnetic Street and College Avenue beginning Thursday, July 7 at 1 p.m. for a storm structural repair. This project is expected to be completed by the end of the day on Friday, July 8.

Marquette City Manager Karen Kovacs will hold her next community office hours on Wednesday, July 13 from 10 a.m. to noon in the main floor conference room of the Peter White Public Library. The meeting is intended to provide an informal opportunity to discuss issues within the community, and to give citizens the opportunity for direct dialogue with City staff about interests and concerns.
The Marquette City Planning Commission meeting originally scheduled for July 12, 2022 has been canceled due to lack of business.
On Wednesday July 6 beginning at 7:00am and continuing through Friday July 8, Center Street between Garfield Avenue and Lynn Avenue will be closed for a sewer service installation. Traffic will be detoured around the closure via Garfield, Lynn, and Waldo.
The public is advised to use caution when traveling through this area and to be alert for construction and advisory signing.
The offices of the Marquette Board of Light and Power will be closed Monday, July 4, 2022 in observance of Independence Day.
Beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 4, Washington Street from McClellan Avenue to Third Street and Third Street from Washington Street to Baraga Avenue will be closed to through traffic to hold the annual Fourth of July Parade. Third and Washington Streets are scheduled to re-open as soon as the parade is completed.
McClellan Avenue from Baraga Avenue to Ridge Street and areas on Baraga Avenue east and west of McClellan Avenue along with east and west of Third Street will be closed for parade staging starting at 10:00 a.m. These areas will open to traffic as soon as the parade is completed.
North Front Street will remain open as an emergency vehicle route.
