New Year's Eve Ball Drop

On Friday, December 31 from 11:00 p.m. until 1:00 a.m., West Washington Street will be closed between Front Street and Third Street for the annual New Year’s Eve Ball Drop. 

The motoring public is advised to use caution when traveling near this area and be aware of all pedestrians crossing the streets.

Sheridan Avenue Closure

Sheridan Ave., between Cleveland Ave. and Sherman St., will be closed for street repairs. The road closure will take place on Thursday, December 21, 2021. Completion is expected for morning of December 29, 2021.

City of Marquette Offices Closed for Holidays

City offices located at Marquette City Hall, 300 W. Baraga Avenue; the Lakeview Arena, 401 E. Fair Avenue; the Arts and Culture Center, 217 N. Front St. (in the Peter White Public Library); and the Municipal Service Center, 1100 Wright Street, will be closed for the Christmas and New Year’s holidays on the following days:

  • Friday, Dec. 24
  • Monday, Dec. 27
  • Friday, Dec. 31
  • Monday, Jan. 3

Marquette Police, Fire, and Public Works and Utilities will remain operational during this time.

There will be no change in garbage pickup for City residents.

Norwood Street Closure

NORWOOD STREET CLOSURE

Norwood St., between Fitch Ave. and Presque Isle Ave., will be closed for road repair. The road closure will take place Thursday, December 16, 2021, 7:00 a.m. until completion. Completion is expected for morning of December 23, 2021.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

The duties and responsibilities as well as the minimum qualifications are contained in the attached job description.  Must successfully complete in-house training program within three years.  This position may include second and third shifts, and / or weekends. Standard written testing will be required to determine qualifications.  Testing subjects will be Mobile Equipment Mechanic and Practical testing. Test scores from identical testing done in the prior 12 months can be used in lieu of re-testing if candidate agrees.

RATE OF PAY

Entry $21.04/hr, 6 months $22.31/hr, 1 year $23.52/hr, 2 years 24.80/hr, 3 years $26.05/hr.
