Center Street will be closed to through traffic for a storm main repair between Wilkinson Avenue and Schaffer Avenue, beginning at 7 a.m. on Monday, July 25. This project is expected to be completed by the end of the day on July 26.
BLP work session planned for May 4
The Marquette Board of Light and Power Board will be holding a working session on Wednesday, May 4, at 5:30 p.m. The topic of discussion will be the property at 400 E. The offices of the Marquette Board of Light and Power will be closed Friday, April 15 in observance of Good Friday.
Intermittent Presque Isle road closure planned during salamander migration
In cooperation with the Superior Watershed Partnership and Northern Michigan University Biology Department, the City of Marquette will be closing a portion of Peter White Drive in Presque Isle Park to facilitate the safe migration of the blue-spotted salamander.
The southwest bend of Peter White Drive, from Moosewood Nature Center to the gate north of the pavilion, will close to vehicular traffic daily at 8 p.m. from March 21 to April 30, or until the completion of the migration. Road barricades will be placed and removed daily to prevent vehicular traffic use of the migration area. Foot traffic is permitted in the area during regular park hours.
Arts and culture committee to meet Feb. 3
The Marquette Arts and Culture Advisory Committee will meet on Thursday, February 3 to discuss the City Annual Art Awards. The meeting will be held starting at 5:30 p.m. This meeting will be in-person at the Arts and Culture Center located in the lower level of Peter White Public Library, 217 N. Front Street, Marquette.
Public Participation
There will be one public comment period for the meeting at the beginning of the agenda. Comments are limited to three minutes and speakers must give their name and address before speaking. Written comments will be presented to the Committee during the meeting and can be submitted by emailing tmorin@marquettemi.gov. Written submissions will be accepted until 5pm on Thursday February 3, 2022.
Mandatory meeting planned for groups holding events on NTN South Trails
The City of Marquette will co-host an informational meeting with the Noquemanon Trail Network to discuss special events to be held on the NTN South Trails.
This meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 27 in the Citizens Forum at Lakeview Arena.
Officials will address the permitting process, scheduling and conflict resolution. Any group wishing to hold events on the South Trails that charge entry fees are required to attend this meeting.

Notice of mailing to Marquette homeowners
The City of Marquette has been notified of an upcoming mailing from American Water Resources (AWR) of Michigan, a subsidiary of American Water. This is a utility insurance service similar to those you may have seen with your natural gas provider. The program is offered by AWR.
This is not a City activity, or otherwise a City-initiated or endorsed program. The City of Marquette and City of Marquette Water Utility are not endorsing the program. Resident responsibilities for maintaining water and sewer laterals are outlined in Chapter 48 of the City Code.

100 block of East Ridge closed during construction
On Tuesday, Dec. 11, starting at 8 a.m., East Ridge Street will be closed to through traffic from Front Street to High Street for a water service installation. Work is expected to be completed by Tuesday, Dec. 18.

Temporary parking is located at the end of Pioneer Road (West side) in a lot (to the right as you drive in) between the first and second gate (see the map).![]()

Parking lot improvements are being made to the existing parking lot along with new vault toilets to be installed. ![]()
Please remember that there is NO PARKING along M553 on either side of the highway. You will be ticketed for parking in these areas.
Curbside brush collection will be conducted April 22 - 26. The brush volume from each property is limited to one pickup load, a pile approx. 12’L x 6’W x 5’H.![]()

Crews will collect loose or brown bagged leaves April 29 – May 10. Street sweeping and sand pickup will be conducted during leaf collection dates for all residential routes. The City will not collect material after the last date listed for each route.![]()

The composting drop-off site located at 1415 Pioneer Rd. is opening April 20 for the season. It is open Tuesdays 3pm – 7pm and Saturdays 9am – 1pm. Any yard waste will be accepted but brush will be limited to one pickup load per day. “Solid Waste” fee payment on a City water bill and ID is required for admittance.![]()

The Household Rubbish site will open April 22. It is open Mondays and Wednesdays 3pm – 7pm and the second Saturday of each month 1pm – 4pm. Extra days have been added to the first two weeks to assist with spring cleaning. Thursday, April 25, Saturday, April 27, and Thursday, May 2. The regular schedule will begin May 6. Sites will close once dumpsters are at capacity.![]()
