The City of Marquette offers two Christmas tree drop-off sites:
Site one is located at the west end of Lakeview Arena parking lot, 401 E Fair Ave. Place tree inside orange fencing.
Site two is located at Hurley Field, 240 Mesnard St. Place tree inside orange fencing.
The Christmas tree drop-off sites are available through January 18, 2026. Residents are to remove all decorations and stands before disposing of their tree.
Properties paying the “Solid Waste” fee on their monthly bills are eligible to use the Christmas tree drop-off sites. Owners and tenants of properties not paying the fee should contact their regular waste hauler for service. These sites are supported by fees, not taxes.
Marquette City Manager Karen Kovacs will hold her next community office hours on Wednesday, January 14, from 10 a.m. to noon in the Shiras Room, on the top level of Peter White Public Library (Front Street side). The meeting is intended to provide an informal opportunity to discuss issues within the community, and to give citizens the opportunity for direct dialogue with City staff about interests and concerns.
Due to significant storm damage, including multiple fallen trees and widespread debris, Tourist Park is closed to the public until further notice. City crews are currently assessing the area and working to remove hazards to ensure the park can be safely reopened.
For everyone’s safety, we ask visitors to avoid the park during this time. We will provide updates as cleanup progresses and will reopen the park as soon as conditions allow.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to restore the park.
The public is reminded that parking on sidewalks and pedestrian paths within the City is prohibited. A map of pedestrian trails and pathways can be found on page 83 of the City’s Community Master Plan Supplemental report:
The public is also reminded that placing snow from private property into the City right of way, including sidewalks and streets, is prohibited. Doing so limits sight distance at driveways and intersections and hinders City snow removal efforts and pedestrian access.
Effective immediately, the City of Marquette’s outdoor ice rinks are open to the public. The ice rinks are located in the north Marquette ball field area on Presque Isle Avenue, in the field on Spring and 7th Street, and a new site located inside Tourist Park. The rinks are open until 11:00 p.m. nightly, and porta john facilities will be available at all sites.
The ice rinks will remain open as long as the weather permits
