Dec. 3 BZA Meeting: participation details

The Dec. 3 Board of Zoning Appeals meeting will be held virtually with Board members and Staff attending remotely through Zoom video conferencing. This meeting will be streamed on the City of Marquette YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/user/CityofMarquetteGov). Please note that the livestreams will have at least a 20 second delay.

Public Participation
There will be three options for public participation in this meeting: video conferencing, phone conferencing, or written comment. There will be two public comment periods for the meeting, one at the beginning, and one at the end. Comments will be limited to three minutes and speakers must give their name and address.

Members of the public wishing to make a video comment will need to visit

Members of the public wishing to call in and make a comment over the phone will need to call 312-626-6799 and enter the meeting ID (842 1206 5727).

When participating via video or phone, you will be placed into a virtual lobby/on-hold until the Public Comment portions of the meetings are reached. Once Public Comment begins, the Chair will go through each person waiting in the lobby one at a time, providing the opportunity to address the Board. It is recommended that participants follow the meeting on YouTube to know when the Public Comment portion is occurring and be ready to make their comment. The video and phone conference lobby will open at 6:50 p.m. Written comments can be submitted by emailing alanders@marquettemi.gov. Written submissions will be accepted until 6 p.m. on Thursday, December 3, 2020.

Nov. 30 City Commission meeting: participation details

Due to directives from the State of Michigan, the Nov. 30 City Commission will be held virtually, with City Commissioners and Staff attending remotely through Zoom video conferencing.

The meeting will be streamed on Channel 191 and YouTube starting at 6 p.m. The YouTube channel is located at www.youtube.com/user/CityofMarquetteGov. Please note that the livestreams may have at least a 20 second delay.

Public Participation

There will be two options for public participation in the meetings: phone conferencing or written comment.  There will be two public comment periods during each meeting, one at the beginning and one at the end. Comments will be limited to three minutes and speakers must give their name and address.

Written comments will be limited to 500 words. Written comments can be submitted directly to shobbins@marquettemi.gov; written submissions will be accepted until noon on Monday, Nov. 30.

The meeting will be streamed on YouTube starting at 5:15 p.m. The YouTube channel is located at https://marquettemi.gov/alternatestream. Please note that the livestreams may have at least a 20 second delay.

Public Participation

There will be two options for public participation in the meetings: phone conferencing or written comment.  There will be two public comment periods during each meeting, one at the beginning and one at the end. Comments will be limited to three minutes and speakers must give their name and address.

Winter Property Tax Bills

Winter tax bills totaling approximately $1.7 million dollars will be mailed to Marquette City property owners on Nov. 30. Tax collection begins Dec. 1 and payments are accepted at the City Treasurer’s office without penalty through Feb. 14, 2021. A penalty of 3% is added to the winter tax bill on Feb. 15. On March 1, 2021, taxes are considered delinquent and are transferred to the County Treasurer for collection.

The 2020 winter property tax bill represents millage levies for Marquette County Transit, County Aging, County Medical Care Facility, County Dispatch, County Rescue, County Veterans’ Affairs, and adjustments due to the revised summer millage for County Operating, Marquette-Alger RESA, and Iron Ore Heritage Authority
