The Marquette City Code (Section 2-522) provides a mechanism for community stakeholders to submit for waivers of City fees and/or in-kind services provided by the City and/or cash payments. Requests for Promotional Funds may include grant funding, fee relief, provision of in-kind City services, cash, or a combination of any or all these items.

Applications for Fiscal Year 2022-2023, (October 1, 2022 through September 30, 2023) must be received or postmarked by March 31, 2022.  Any applications received or postmarked after this date will NOT be eligible for consideration.  It is important to note all applications may not be funded.  Funding will depend upon City priorities and available dollars.  Applications and information are available on the City website at www.marquettemi.gov or at the Community Services, Parks & Recreation office located in Lakeview Arena at 401 E. Fair Avenue, Marquette.

Marquette City Manager Karen Kovacs will hold her next community office hours on Wednesday, February 9 from 10 a.m. to noon in the main floor conference room of the Peter White Public Library.  The meeting is intended to provide an informal opportunity to discuss issues within the community, and to give citizens the opportunity for direct dialogue with City staff about interests and concerns.

The bike path along Lakeshore Boulevard, from Mattson Park going through Founders Landing to South Beach, will not be maintained effective February 4 due to the upcoming U.P. 200.  The bike path maintenance will resume on February 22.

The Marquette City Planning Commission meeting scheduled for February 15th, 2022 has been cancelled due to lack of business for the agenda.

On Thursday, February 10, from 6 to 8 p.m., the Peter White Public Library and the City of Marquette Office of Arts and Culture will be hosting the opening receptions for the three art galleries located at the library. The Deo Gallery is part of the City’s Arts & Culture Center, located in the lower level of PWPL; it is curated monthly by the Lake Superior Art Association. The Deo Gallery’s exhibit will be up through March 1. The library galleries’ exhibits will be up until April 1. Receptions are free and open to the public. Masks are required.

The January 25, 2022 noon meeting of the Marquette Housing Commission Board will not be held.

The January 18 regular meeting of the Local Development Finance Authority has been rescheduled for Tuesday, January 25 at 4:00 p.m. in room 103 at City Hall, 300 W Baraga Ave., Marquette, MI 49855.

The Board of Zoning Appeals regular meeting on February 3, 2022, has been canceled.   The next scheduled meeting will be held on March 3, 2022.

The Harbor Advisory Committee (HAC) meeting scheduled for January 18, 2022 has been cancelled.  The next regularly scheduled meeting will be February 15, 2022.   

The eastbound side of Grove Street between the Greywalls entrance and Vandenboom Road will be closed to through traffic for a water repair on Tuesday, January 18, beginning at 7:00 a.m. This project is expected to be completed by the end of the day.
